GurdjieffIn The New Millenium,an ongoing conversationaboutThe Fourth Way |
Welcome to the Gurdjieff Forum Web Page . The Gurdjieff Forum is a moderated mail list devoted to the discussion and presentation of the ideas of G.I. Gurdjieff's System, also taught by P.D. Ouspensky and other direct students of G.I. Gurdjieff. These ideas refer to Man's possibility for inner evolution in his everyday's world, and are also generically known as The Fourth Way.Along with lively discussion and debate regarding numerous Fourth Way topics and ideas, original works are presented. There is no charge but all are encouraged to contribute to the discussions.
The Gurdjieff Forum is a community of Fourth Way followers around the world who exchange ideas and information relating to the Fourth Way through a private, moderated mail list. Members send messages to the Moderator who decides whether or not they are suitable and distributes them via E-Mail to the List Members. The Moderator does not edit or alter message text.
Gurdjieff Forum membership is open to anyone who either wishes to consider following Fourth Way precepts or is already doing so.To join or leave the Gurdjieff Forum, E-Mail a request to chick@valley.net, with "Gurdjieff Forum" in the Subject line. If you prefer to use an anonymous I.D. you will be treated similarly to those who use their real name and/or E-Mail address.
A good place to start is the Gurdjieff International Review where you will find a description of Gurdjieff; information from and about some of his pupils; a list of Fourth Way Organizations and Schools; access to Fourth Way literature and other materials.
The archive contains over 10,000 posts beginning June 1996. To retrieve the posts, you'll need a login and password which you may request from promart after your GF Membership is granted by chick@valley.net
To open these files you will need software that unzips zipped archives. For windows, either winzip or pkzip is recommended. For Macintosh, either zipit or stuffit expander is recommended. A good place to obtain the latest versions is www.tucows.com
Each archive contains an individual file for each post and another file containing the index of posts for the month the archive represents. The index and files are intended to be viewed with your web browser. You don't need to be connected to your Provider while you're viewing the files. Macintosh Firefox and Safari users may choose the preference or option settings that will load the browser without attempting to connect to your provider. Windows users may simply stop the dialer when loading your browser.
After your browser is loaded, use the open file command to find the directory/folder containing the posts and open the index file (i.e. a9801ndx.htm). From there you can click on whatever post you want to view. To return to the index, click the link to it at the bottom of the post you're viewing.
IMPORTANT: For the index function to work, you must keep all the files together in one directory/folder. June belongs in one folder, July another, August another, etc. You may name it whatever you like but don't rename any of the files.
Below are the posts. The zipped size of each archive averages between 500K and 1Mb.
This function has been reinstated, but is working on a trial basis, that is, it may or it may not work for everybody at all times, so use it at your own risk (as with everything else in life). It is accessible on the archive site - look for the file called "gimme_new_access.html".
